This old temple is said to have been founded by a legendary wizard, who lived in the mountains and was capable of performing miracles.

The oldest gravestone in the city can be seen here. It is composed of five layers representing,(from the bottom upward), earth, water, fire, wind, and heaven.

The front shrine is appointed as a designated cultural property by Hyogo.

It is said that it was constructed in 1519 using funds donated by Kanbei Kuroda, who was the one of the smartest Samurai warload in EDO era, an aide to Hideyoshi Toyotomi.

Sairinji-temple is home to two important prefecturally listed cultural properties; an eleventh-century, wooden, eleven-faced Kannon and a 200-year-old, Chinese camellia.

The precinct of this temple, which is in the deep mountains, has a majestic atmosphere.

The only 'Two-storied pagoda" in Nishiwaki is a cultural property designated by Hyogo Prefecture.

THE KISHI HOUSE

The Kishi house was constructed between 1915 and 1918 when the owner of the house, Umekichi Kishi, was the chairman of Nishiwaki Town.

The house was built with the best and unique woods money could buy, and fashioned by highly skilled craftsmen. The house was specifically designed with the Japanese tea ceremony in and its gardens were made to be the focal point for such ceremonies.

The historical museum which displays historical documents of Nishiwaki City and cotton fabrics produced in this area called "Banshu-ori". It houses more than 30,000 documents, of which 6,000 are about daily commodities of  Nishiwaki City, the largest number in Hyogo Prefecture. It also stores about 250 world national costumes.

KOYO-TOUGEIKAN -THE PAVILION BUILT OVER AN ANCIENT POTTERY KILN-

This pavilion was built over the remains of an ancient kiln which was used during the 12th century. It is also the home of a working pottery studio for the local community and is a repository for locally excavated pottery shards. The ancient kiln is designated as a prefectural cultural property.
