CITY EMBLEM
The two arms represent Nishiwaki's position at the confluence of the Kako and the Sugihara Rivers. The two dots represent a leap into the future.
CENTER OF JAPAN SYMBOL
The bird caricature is formed from the stylized outline of the main islands of Japan. The horizontal line is 35°North Latitude and the vertical line 135°East Longitude. The point of their intersection is the Center of Japan. Nishiwaki's nickname in Japanese is "Nihon no heso" which translates to "the bellybutton of Japan".
CITY FLOWER
Moss Pink(Shibazakura) which blooms all over the city in May, is the city flower.
CITY TREE
Japanese cherry tree(Sakura) is perhaps the most famous tree in Japan. Its beautiful blossoms are a source of pride and inspiration for Japanese everywhere. It was chosen to be the new city tree when the township of Kurodasho was merged into Nishiwaki City.
